My Library, a unique community reading space and book rental service, was officially inaugurated on August 2nd at Edward Square, Stadium Link Road, Kaloor (Near IMA Hall). The inauguration was graced by Mr. V. Sunil Kumar, Founder & Managing Director of Asset Homes and a noted writer; Mr. Madhu Eravankara, acclaimed film director, author, librarian, professor, and National Award winner for his book on cinema; Mr. Chandrasenan Mithirmala, magician and writer; and Mr. Ramachandran Nair, popular author of several books.
The vision for My Library is driven by Mr. Pratap Nair, Founder and Chairman of FEI Cargo Ltd., one of India’s premier logistics and freight forwarding enterprises headquartered in Mumbai. A pioneer with over forty years of expertise in international shipping and supply chain operations, Mr. Nair has led FEI Group to build a strong national presence with over 20 offices across India and an international footprint in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Mauritius. Under his leadership, the company has handled prestigious, high-value consignments such as helicopters, supercomputers, aircraft engines, and industrial transformers. Beyond his entrepreneurial achievements, Mr. Nair is deeply committed to philanthropy. Through the Shailaja Nair Foundation, he supports initiatives in education, healthcare, and rural development — championing holistic growth and social equity. His belief that knowledge should be accessible to all is at the heart of My Library’s mission.
The initiative aims to make reading accessible and affordable for people of all ages and tastes while fostering a culture of lifelong learning. With The motto “Why Buy, When You Can Rent It?”, My Library offers an extensive collection of books and magazines — from colorful pictures books for children to thrilling adventures, timeless classics, and curated lifestyle and current affairs magazines. Members can enjoy no late fees, flexible reading plans, and even home delivery across Kochi, ensuring convenience without compromising on the joy of reading.
In the words of the library’s guiding philosophy, “Books are medicine for the mind.” Inspired by author Umberto Eco’s belief that a well-stocked library is like a well-stocked medicine cabinet, My Library encourages readers to explore and discover without the burden of ownership.
